3 Fun Fiction Reads: Romance Edition
1. You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle
As far as romance books go, this one definitely switches it
up. The story starts from where a lot of other books end, with the main couple
already in a relationship. Not only that, but they are about to get married.
The problem is that the relationship isn’t going well anymore and from the main
characters point of view, the spark is gone. Thus begins a series of events
where purposeful sabotage blossoms into love in an interesting lovers-to-
enemies- to- lovers twist.
What I loved about this book was that you still get to see
the main characters fall in love, just in a different way. Re-discovering a
relationship instead of creating a new one was genuinely really cool to read
and I think the author does a great job of making the reader fall into the
story and feel the emotions of the characters.
I highly recommend this book if you want a spin on the classic enemies to lovers trope!
2. The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
Speaking of enemies to lovers, pretty much any Ali Hazelwood
book would fit the bill. Her writing is fun, easy to read and a good mix of
classic tropes. This was the first of her books I read and it’s a pretty
classic Fake Dating story with a good amount of banter and butterflies in your
stomach moments.
The main character is a PhD candidate who believes a
professor at her college hates her, and yet ends up fake dating him to convince
her best friend her love life (that she doesn’t believe in) is going great.
It’s a fun, flirty read for anyone looking to just sit back and relax with an
easy-to read book!
I wanted to recommend a non enemies-to-lovers book in this
as well and this one fit the bill perfectly. It’s actually the second book in a
duology of sorts that can be read as a stand-alone. (The book before it actually
is enemies-to-lovers and is titled It Happened One Summer).
The main character already knows the love interest and ends
up staying at his place for a little while. While she has a crush on someone
else and he is a self-titled ladies’ man, they’re strictly friends…that is
until the lines get blurry. The book deals with real image and self-confidence
issues but still keeps things relatively light-hearted and fun.
I recommend this book if you just want a good old fashioned
romance book!
