Mid-Year Checkpoint Outline
We’re halfway through the year now with the end of June approaching so I figured I’d outline the mid-way checkpoint I like to do around this time.
There are both physical and mental aspects to this process that I’ll outline out. Of course, these are just things I do and some of them might be different for you so please use this as a guide and not a staunch list.
Let’s start with the mental:
In the beginning of this year I outlined the beginning of my bullet journal setup so let me run through what the midway point looks like.
3 reflection questions:
-What are the highlights of the year so far?
-What are the accomplishments of the year so far?
-What have I struggled with/overcome this year so far?
These are good questions to look back and evaluate everything that has already happened. It’s easy to forget the previous months so this is an ode to them before we turn our attention forward.
3 forward/planning questions:
-Are there any goals I want to add moving forward based off of my current situation/interests.
-Are there any goals that are no longer relevant or align with what I want that I should remove?
-Which goals do I want to focus on in the second half of the year?
These questions are to reevaluate your life and goals to match the person you are now that you’ve experienced six months of this year. We obviously change and grow with time and your goals should change and grow along with you.
The second part to all this is the physical aspect:
For me this means my environment and I like to do a deep clean of my room and my digital space.
Digital Space Cleanup Ideas:
-deleting old photos that you don’t like anymore
-backing up files
-clearing up storage by uninstalling apps you don’t use
-going through social media and unfollowing people or accounts
Physical Space Cleanup Ideas:
-go through all the clothes you own and clear out the ones that don’t spark joy
-go through accessories
-throw away/shred old papers that aren’t important
-clean or organize in whatever way makes sense for you
Note: doing this type of cleanup midway through the year will help lighten the load if you decide to revisit in December to set yourself up for a fresh start in January.
Basically the goal is to look at your surroundings and clear out what no longer serves you, much like the mental analysis of your goals.
-.-
Everything I listed out here takes time, it’s even something that usually spans across two months for me as I work through everything and take my time to really think things through. I will confess that with the end of June approaching I am only halfway through my physical space and have just started on the journal analysis.
But like I said, not everything is applicable to everyone and this is a guide that you can use to kickstart your midway checkpoint! (And though I say midway, you can take as much time as you need to get through it!)
I hope this was helpful and I’d love to hear your thoughts on this so please feel free to leave a comment below!
Thanks for reading!
