Kdrama Recommendations

This month I thought I’d go through my top kdrama recommendations!

1. Hometown Cha Cha Cha

This absolutely adorable slice of life romance drama has a little bit of everything. Nosy but ultimately endearing cast of neighbors each with their own small sub plots meaning there’s a little something for everyone, an enemies-to-friends-to-lovers trope with the main leads yet still depicting a healthy relationship, and a plot that ties everything together very nicely.

This kdrama continues to stand the test of all the other ones I’ve watched and remains at the top of my list. The chemistry between the main couple is amazing and I love that they depict a healthy relationship without the unnecessary miscommunication plot points that break apart other couples in other dramas.

This kdrama truly has a little bit of everything. From moments of fake dating to secret relationships and small bouts of jealousy. Even the second male lead handles things in a healthy way when the main couple inevitably gets together.

It has slice of life and small town vibes, along with the cast of neighbors also plays a big role in the overall plot. There are moments of focus for all the other characters as well giving the whole drama a very rounded feel. The plot circles back to every point and doesn’t leave anything hanging by the end of it which makes for a very satisfying watch experience.

Highly recommend!

Other Slice Of Life dramas:

-Run On: Kind of a slow burn for the main leads with a more chemistry oriented second couple, but overall not as romance heavy. 9/10

-Welcome to Samdal-ri: Family focused drama with not as much romance despite it being part of the plot. Cast of nosy but well-meaning neighbors and flashbacks to the past since the main leads have a long history. 7/10

-Crash Course in Romance: Depicts an older couple relationship but not as romance heavy and focuses on all the characters pretty equally. 7/10

2. Her Private Life

This workplace drama has off the charts chemistry between the main couple and also depicts an extremely healthy relationship with no unnecessary breakups involved.

The main female lead is a career oriented fangirl, which is a concept close to my heart, and I love the way they depict her and fandoms in general in this drama. The male lead is as tortured as all the male leads are but super cute when interacting with her especially and an lgbtq ally.

We also get to meet the idol that’s her bias and he is just a ray of sunshine, absolutely no notes of this perfect puppy character.  The second love interests for both of the main couple are annoying and I would say the second male lead was probably my least favorite part about this drama.

But other than that, the chemistry, message and vibes of the rest of the drama are so fun that I highly recommend.

(Also this drama has some of the best outfits I’ve seen as well, but that’s just Park Min-Young for you.)

Other Romance Dramas:

-Because This Is My First Life: Follows three different couples with the main one being a pretty long slow-burn. Realistic in the sense there is something for everyone across the 3 relationships and there is a nice message overall. 8/10

-Love to Hate You: Short, sweet and to the point of enemies-to-lovers. Easy to binge in a weekend and the main couple does have a realistic and healthy relationship with good communication. 9/10

3. Touch Your Heart

This workplace drama is a peak sunshine and grumpy character pairing. Almost immediately I wanted to protect the female lead with my life. She is the sweetest character and watching the male lead fall for her is so cute.

This drama also has a pretty healthy relationship despite the one breakup episode (that gets resolved pretty quickly) and has a lot of trust between the leads. There aren’t any particular tropes other than maybe hurt/comfort where the male lead protects her in such a satisfying way.

I thoroughly enjoyed this drama and it is one of my favorites for the sunshinexgrumpy pairing. The second couple is less involved but cute nonetheless and quirky-ish crew of the law firm have a lot of fun moments that range from sweet to serious.

Highly recommend!

Other Workplace Dramas:

-Business Proposal: Cute workplace, fake dating drama. The main couple is cute but not to my taste since it feels like she resisted the relationship a lot. The second couple has so much chemistry and I loved them. 7/10

-What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim: Another classic workplace kdrama which was super cute. I liked the plot the the chemistry between the main characters even though the male lead could stand to be a little less arrogant, he is head over heels for her which makes up for it. 9/10

Honorable Mention:

King the Land

If you want a cute workplace, healthy relationship fluff drama with no stakes just for the feel good moments, I highly recommend this one as well. I enjoyed the way this fought against all the stereotypes of other dramas and avoided all the plot holes the rest of them fall into just to keep the main couple going strong.

That’s the list, I hope you enjoyed this and if you check out any of these dramas please let me know your thoughts!
