Summer Skincare Faves
Summer is right around the corner so this month I thought I'd share my summer skincare faves!
I will admit I'm not really a skincare aficionado but I will be sharing the few basics that I actually use.
I've noticed that certain products work better for me during the summer and others work better in the winter. The biggest thing is I need a lot more hydration in the winter and if I use the same products in the summer my skin gets too oily. (I’m not sure what my skin type is but it seems to be dry in the winter and oily in the summer.)
So with that let me jump into my summer faves:
1. Bliss Drench & Quench Cream-to-Water Hydrator
During the summer, this becomes my primary face moisturizer. It's super light and provides just the right amount of hydration. Like the name suggests, it starts out like a cream but the more you spread it across your face it feels like water. The overall effect, as a result, is a lighter and airy feel that dries really quickly.
I don’t need to use a lot either since it turns watery, just two small dots on either side of my face is enough coverage by the time I’ve spread it around.
(During the winter I use a different moisturizer entirely, this wouldn’t be enough for the drier months.)
2. Elf Suntouchable Invisible sunscreen
This is technically a makeup product because it's a sunscreen/primer. Of course, there are way stronger sunscreens out there that you can use and I totally support that. For me this works great as a daily product cause I'm not usually spending the whole day outside anyway (still got to go to work lol)
I like that it can be used as a primer as well. And there are also tinted versions you can shade match to your skin to use as your base. I prefer the Invisible one because I can use it like normal sunscreen if I want.
Honorable Mention: Elf Suntouchable Setting Spray
If you have put on some makeup, and want some extra sunscreen coverage, I recommend setting it with the Suntouchable Setting Spray. If I know I’m going to be outside a lot, this is a great way to both set my makeup and get some SPF on top. And you can always re-apply and keep your makeup in tact. I don’t always reach for this one (cause I don’t always use setting spray) but during the summer it gets more use, however I think this is a great year-round product.
3. EOS Super Balm
This is my go to lip repair chapstick, especially in the summer. I use this all year round, but in the winter I usually pair it with a lip mask to really hydrate my lips. In the summer though, it's sufficient by itself to help repair any damage my lips will take after putting on lipsticks and other makeup products.
It's also the base of any lip routine that I do. But I will often just wear this by itself, especially before I go to sleep to hydrate my lips for the next day.
Honorable Mention: Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser
This is another year round product that I use. It’s perfect for what it says, a daily facial cleanser. I always feel clean and fresh after using this and I find that it’s not trying to add extra hydration or anything and I like that it sticks to the basics. (I have a Neutrogena one that does feel like it’s also trying to hydrate but then I don’t feel as clean) You don’t need to use a lot of the product and the size is big enough to easily last you months on end.
Maybe I’ll do a follow up in the winter with my winter skincare products…But, thank you so much for reading! I’ll see you next month!
